A summary of the discussions at the UK Public Health Network summit on the potential for an Office of Budget Responsibility for Population Health on 28 September 2018. The summit agreed that there is a need to think differently about funding and where different fiscal policies such as tax and price regulation could play a role. There are a number of options for providing OBR-type functions to improve financial planning for public health and agreement that the solution must be independent, apolitical, report directly to Parliament and be able to look 10-15 years ahead.
